Beam ABA

Fully staffed home & community support

Our core support consists of fully staffed support provided in the home, local community, and any other relevant settings, e.g., educational settings, day centres, etc. We provide long-term, full-time programmes of support, mainly to teenagers and young adults with primary diagnoses of autism and learning disability. We maintain our unwavering commitment to the UK-SBA’s Code of Ethical and Professional Conduct, including “Work(ing) within boundaries of competence and expertise”

Too many young people, and their families, find themselves with very limited options after education. Education may end due to the young person’s age, a lack of suitable placements, and/or disruption to existing placements.

We have seen first hand the lack of specialist support available to individuals whose learning should not stop once their formal education ends. We have also seen families and professionals trying to find alternatives to full-time education who have limited options to choose from.

We work directly with Local Authorities, Integrated Care Boards, and families in receipt of  personalised budgets. We provide support wherever it is most needed – whether this is in the young person’s own home, community, etc.

We provide the full staff team: A combination of Behaviour Support Workers, Behaviour Support Therapists, and Behaviour Technicians support individuals with individualised, person-centred goals and targets. Senior Behaviour Support Therapists and ABA Consultants provide further expertise, in terms of direct support, ongoing training and oversight, and continued communication and collaboration with the wider team, i.e., parents and external stakeholders.

We don’t use any agency or contractor staff. All of the BEAM team are directly employed by BEAM, having gone through all of our gold standard safer recruitment checks and robust induction training before beginning their BEAM journey. We hope that this contributes to consistency, shared values, and quality control.

Our approach relies on shared values with Local Authorities, ICBs, and/or families on support being long-term, ambitious, person-centred, and community-focused. We focus on teaching functional, meaningful skills, and do not wish to spend most of our time writing reports and protocols for others to follow. Our approach is hands on and direct, and we work with families with a shared understanding of knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

The BEAM team receive ongoing training and development opportunities – see our Clinical Pathways and Career Progression plan here [link] for more information on the ongoing training that our staff receive,

Our focus is on each individual – their strengths, their potential, their interests, and what may cause them anxiety. We develop bespoke Personalised Plans that details individualised targets for each of our young people, including but not limited to:

Functional living skills

Functional communication

Receptive understanding skills

Life skills

Social skills

Vocational skills

Personal care skills

All of these skill areas have the ultimate aim of increasing independence and improving an individual’s quality of life.

We understand that there may be barriers that individuals face which we may need to support with, and this may include supporting individuals during times of dysregulation which can manifest in the form of behaviours of concern. Our team are trained in, and implement,  a variety of proactive and reactive strategies with the aim of reducing the frequency, duration, and/or intensity of behaviours of concern.
