Beam ABA

Online Parent / Carer Training

ABA Pathfinder

ABA Pathfinder is a guided online programme led by parents and carers. It has been created with families to ensure that it’s an effective, affordable and easy-to-use service which meets the needs of each individual and their family. BEAM has provided Pathfinder support since 2017 to families who wish to upskill their knowledge of the theory and application of ABA, to those who live outside of areas that we provide face-to-face support in, and to those who already have an ABA Therapist but are looking for clinical oversight.

ABA Pathfinder overview

  • Remote ABA training and consultation tailored specifically for parents of children with autism and/or learning disabilities
  • Helping parents easily implement ABA-based interventions directly in the home environment
  • Age ranges – ranging from 2-12 years old
  • Helping parents teach their child important skills such as:
    • Communication
    • Independent living skills
    • Social skills
  • Individualised targets tailored specifically for each child following thorough assessment protocol with ongoing support

How ABA Pathfinder works

In this remote service, the ABA Consultant works directly with the parent/carer/therapist via video call. You receive all the tools, strategies, coaching and support needed to implement an ABA programme individually designed for your child and their learning style. We teach you how to incorporate natural environment teaching (NET) strategies, which focus on teaching skills within your child’s everyday environment and routines. Our programmes focus on supporting you to teach a wide range of skills, including communication, social interactions, and daily living skills. Data will be collected by the parent/carer on an app. The Consultant will have full oversight of the programme to ensure that you and your child are supported to meet their goals.

Some of the things we may focus on

1..Learn to understand your child’s learning style and adapt teaching strategies to encourage effective learning.

  1. Using natural environmental teaching to incorporate learning opportunities into everyday activities and routines.
  2. Parents are taught how to support their child to generalise skills learned at home to various settings, including  school, and the community
  3. Equip parents with strategies to manage behaviours of concern and promote positive behaviour change.

Next steps

If you are interested in learning more about ABA Pathfinder, the first step is to make an enquiry here [link]. We will then review your initial enquiry, and if we feel that Pathfinder may be right for you, we would then initiate our process as follows:

ONLINE ASSESSMENT

The online assessment is the first step to begin an ABA Pathfinder programme.

The online assessment process includes:

  • Guided completion of online assessment form alongside an ABA Consultant (60 minutes)
  • ABA programme development by the Consultant
  • Video call with Consultant to review programme (60 minutes)
  • ABA programme (Behaviour Support Plan & Personalised Plan) in PDF format

One off fee paid after assessment is completed – no obligation to move forward with the ABA programme from this stage. Information on our costs and different packages for Pathfinder will be provided to you following your initial enquiry.

Please note: Our initial assessment will clarify if we can provide support – given that Pathfinder support is remote, we need to consider if we would be the right fit.

ONGOING ONLINE CLINICAL SESSIONS

Online clinical sessions are regular sessions that bring the parent and ABA Consultant together via video calls.

The online clinical sessions include:
