Beam ABA Services is delighted to announce our parent training course is being made available to parents living in County Limerick. This training is for parents of children aged 2-8 years who have a developmental delay and/or a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

It can be difficult for parents to access the supports they need for their child due to waiting lists, costs and lack of available services. Therefore, this training is setup to provide parents with the knowledge, tools and strategies to effectively support their child and maximise their learning, communication skills and social development.

Our training programme includes 8 sessions, meeting once per week. This includes 6 (2.5 hour) parent-only small group sessions and 2 home visits with each family to provide parents with support and guidance when implementing strategies at home with their child. The home visits will be organised in weeks 3 and 6 of the course. This provides a comprehensive and personalised learning experience for parents participating in the course.

Training Topics covered will include:

• Teaching functional communication
• Understanding and responding to challenging behaviours
• Developing playskills and social skills-promoting interactive play with peers and/or siblings
• Teaching strategies that optimise learning

The training will be run by our BCBA accredited ABA consultant.

Service Location

This training is being offered to parents living in County Limerick.

Cost

We are offering the training at an introductory cost of £380 for the whole 8 sessions, including the two home visits.

Candidates

The course is designed for parents of children aged 2-8 years and best suits the below criteria:

• Developmental delay and/or diagnosis of ASD
• Pre-verbal, limited vocal repertoire and/or communication skills
